Five survivors of the shooting at Marjory Stoneman Douglas High School in Florida announced plans on Sunday for a nationwide march, as well as a demonstration in Washington to call for legislative action to prevent gun violence.
During a spate of TV appearances Sunday morning, students Jaclyn Corin, Emma Gonzalez, David Hogg, Cameron Kasky and Alex Wind unveiled plans to mobilize students to urge lawmakers to act in response to Wednesday's fatal shooting in Parkland, Florida, that claimed the lives of 17 of their fellow classmates and school staffers.
"We're marching because it's not just schools. It's movie theaters, it's concerts, it's nightclubs," Wind told NBC's "Meet the Press." "This kind of stuff can't just happen. You know, we are marching for our lives, we're marching for the 17 lives we lost. And we're marching for our children's lives and our children's children and their children."
The national demonstration, set to take place March 24, will feature calls for lawmakers to take up legislative remedies to improve mental health and expand regulations on guns, the students said.

Students of the Florida school where 17 people died last week said Sunday they will organize nationwide marches for gun control next month and try to create a badge of shame for politicians who take money from the National Rifle Association and other gun rights groups.
We are losing our lives while the adults are playing around, Cameron Kasky said on CNNs State of the Union. Kasky, a junior at Marjory Stoneman Douglas High School in Parkland, Fla., has been part of an outpouring of anger from students who survived the shooting, many of whom have publicly blamed President Trump and NRA-supported politicians for creating the conditions that led to the shooting.
This is about us begging for our lives; this isnt about the GOP, this isnt about the Democrats, this is about us creating a badge of shame for any politicians accepting money from the NRA and using us as collateral, said Kasky.
An NRA spokeswoman declined to comment.
Kasky and other students said they are organizing March for Our Lives rallies in Washington and major U.S. cities on March 24 to demand action on gun violence.
