I think this is her (or maybe her family, who were suposedly liberal/progressive) doing an intervention and getting through to her to get out of dodge. She was basically his valet and trophy-on-the-side and it seems that he may not be able to function without her there - particularly if his jet-setting wife-daughter isn't there to pick up the vacuum that will be left.

But it is too late. If she was the one who helped craft that bullshit lie "memo" on the plane, then she is toast.
