In reply to the discussion: Police: Man spits on black child, calls him racial slur [View all]PoindexterOglethorpe
(28,493 posts)kids wandering around a restaurant or being noisy in public doesn't particularly bother me. I have an acquaintance that I rarely see any more who is always completely intolerant of the slightest misbehavior of children in public, as if she was never a kid herself or never had her own child, who I suspect was very ill-behaved most of the time.
I am convinced that when my kids were young they were well behaved in public. Except that I have clear memories of times we left a restaurant because one of them was acting up. We did always try to go to noisy, family friendly restaurants, but even those don't need to be subject to a screaming kid.
Kids will be kids. Yeah, there are places you shouldn't be taking them, but no matter what, spitting and calling out racial slurs is never the right response.
