Former New Jersey Gov. Chris Christie (R) warned President Trump against firing special counsel Robert Mueller on Tuesday.
In an interview with ABC's George Stephanopoulos, Christie said it would be "a big problem" if Trump overruled his advisers and directed Deputy Attorney General Rod Rosenstein to fire the special counsel. "You can't fire the special counsel. You just can't," Christie said.
Christie, who served as a member of Trump's transition team, added that many who surround the president worry his reaction to a no-knock raid Monday by FBI agents in the offices of his lawyer, Michael Cohen, could overstep boundaries.
"I think he does understand it," he added, "but I think there's lots of people who are concerned that his reaction to this may overcome what he's already been told."
