It is otherworldly. It is fascinating to see first-hand the birth of new land, yet unsettling to realize how small and powerless we are, comparatively. In a battle between humankind and nature, we don’t stand a chance. Standing near this volcano and watching as it destroys, yet creates, is a great lesson in humility to all who have the opportunity to watch our planet in action.
