this country is made up of quite a few of "their people" and they have observed us over the couple centuries. They also saw the Obama's administration's actions after losing faith and trust after Shrub (after starting a war with someone who never attacked us). So IMHO, they know the deal. The issue is more of whether the people here are willing and able to reign the worst in.
To give a nod to astrology (for those who follow it), the U.S. is a "Cancer" (the crab) based on a "birth date" of July 4th, and is moody. But it is also a homebody and might snap at you one day but then almost overload you with generosity on another day (e.g., in terms of dealing with disasters - although whenever the GOP is in control, we can't even do that for our own disasters.
