(6,801 posts)35. I wonder if the disagreement on this really is on the question
of when a person becomes a person.
I will admit I can see no clear line between when it's a fetus and when it's a child. I have no problem with abortion in the first or 2nd trimester. Third it get's a little iffy. 5 minutes before birth: no.
But there's not a clear point at which I can say before this yes, after this no. Granted we have to come up with arbitrary delineations all the time (17 and 364 days is a child, 18 is an adult). But still I can see why there are disputes.
And then of course there are many people who probably do like to oppose it to keep women in their place so to speak. I'm not talking about them here though.
