First thing out of my mouth when I saw the OP was to say that because of their sheer numbers (whites are STILL the majority of the U.S.), there are more poor whites on "welfare" and other assistance programs than the COMBINED number of just about every other group (POC) that collects this assistance.

But some who keep parroting this (including those in the administration) know this and so they try to come up with "exemptions" and other dirty tricks to keep their poor white populace from getting the impact to cuts in programs such as Medicaid (i.e., that eventually torpedoed draft to remove "work requirements" from rural whites in Michigan so that they only applied to urban, predominately black areas).
