Maybe Trump is not a mistake, maybe he is a logical consequence of the system we have/had. The Founders went to a lot of trouble to look at other former governments that had shown promise but succumbed to some flaw. They purposely constructed a system that they believed answered the flaws as they perceived them. Maybe they missed something. Or maybe it was unforeseeable based on the information they had at the time and it is for the next Founders to learn from their mistake. It does bear scrutiny because even if we survive Trump here is still a flaw. If Trump had happened earlier in our existence we may not have made it this far.
