The founding fathers also had no idea of the power of contemporary media to shape opinion. And how that power can be abused to serve the corrupt few. Both television media, and talk radio media. And of course social media platforms where disinformation can be spread like wildfire. And also how we are slowly moving into separate camps of watching and listening to only the news shows that reinforce our own beliefs. I can speak for myself in saying that I am also guilty of that. And its name is Democratic Underground. I don't know what I'd do without a place were we can talk without having to deal with a circus of freepers trying to derail conversations with idiocy.

But I'd like to think there's a difference in that we actually use those pesky things called FACTS to underpin our news sites. They sit around their own camp fire telling scary stories about monsters stealing Christmas, or taking away their precious guns, or evil brown rapists invading their towns, and they all believe it.
