Rand Paul is undoubtedly smart enough to know his new found affinity for Russia doesn't look right and that he is almost assuredly being watched by the intelligence community. It is almost like he is screaming "Russians are blackmailing me" without actually saying it.

And again - the bizarre altercation with his neighbor has to somehow be tied to all this.
