From the article:

Mexico’s new leader, also known as “Almo,” has also said he will refuse to accept Secret Service-style bodyguards when he is sworn in as president in December.

He shouldn't shun high levels of security for himself. Mexico is almost a narco-state. I can see the drug loonies trying to bump him off if he backs off on his security.
