President Donald Trump lashed out at his predecessor after he was asked to respond to former first lady Michelle Obama’s critical comments about his “birther” conspiracy theories.

In her forthcoming memoir, she described Trump’s “birther” falsehoods as “crazy and mean-spirited,” and motivated by racist bigotry, and she accused him of deliberately stoking those conspiracy theories to “stir up the wingnuts and kooks.”

“What if someone with an unstable mind loaded a gun and drove to Washington?” Michelle Obama wrote. “What if that person went looking for our girls? Donald Trump, with his loud and reckless innuendos, was putting my family’s safety at risk. And for this I’d never forgive him.”

Trump was asked Friday morning to comment on her criticism, and he attacked former President Barack Obama.
