Rural Cal, as far-right as anywhere, I live here in the middle of it. And the Camp Fire and the Carr Fire and the Napa fires fuel loadings had nothing to do with "forest management", as in conifer trees logged commercially, they burned in woodland and shrubby areas. Extreme winds, record dry fuels, will do it. A November fire like that in Northern California? Unheard of, and freaky. I hope this pronouncement turns a few people around, but who knows.
A good succinct article: https://www.popsci.com/forest-management-california-fires?src=SOC&dom=tw
Also, the USDA Forest service is shut down, NOW is the time when fuel reduction projects are happening on National Forest lands, as well as lots of other activities around reducing the impact of future fire seasons. Because of contracting, weather, administrative considerations, this time lost may not be recovered. What a setback. This blubbering asshole is bent on destroying us.
