In reply to the discussion: UPDATE: Sen. Bernie Sanders will seek the Democratic presidential nomination in 2020 [View all]PatSeg
(52,231 posts)I always had a high opinion of Bernie, but I didn't support his run for president. Some people just aren't presidential material. It takes more than great ideas and compelling rhetoric to be the most powerful person on the planet.
Sadly, now my opinion of him is less than it used to be, as it feels like he got bitten by the president bug and he is doing this for all the wrong reasons. He should look back at all the failed candidacies in the Democratic party and see how others handled their loss with grace and dignity and went on to serve in other ways - Al Gore, John Kerry, Hillary Clint (twice), John Dean (best DNC chair ever and helped get Obama elected), Joe Biden. And of those, Al Gore and Hillary Clinton won the popular vote and probably had the election stolen from them.
This is starting to feel like one huge ego trip. He could and should do better than that.
