In reply to the discussion: UPDATE: Sen. Bernie Sanders will seek the Democratic presidential nomination in 2020 [View all]UniteTheLeft
(49 posts)Can any of you tell me you'll let go of all fruitless bickering, and counterproductive jealousy this time no matter who wins the DNC 2020 primary ? Did you last time ? Because if you don't then you may as well be voting republican.
Age is not a reason not to vote for someone, gender is not a reason not to vote for someone, race is not a reason not to vote for someone. If we want to lose yet another election then the negativity I see in this post is exactly the losing formula. I understand many of you are worried, and you're right to be worried, but this kind of division can not be afforded this time at all. It's exactly what the Russian/trump trolls are licking their chops to cultivate. Stating the obvious...DU like any other site on the internet is not invulnerable to schill accounts trying to spread discontent and ill will among us.Their schill army sits back and laughs at stuff like this while the comment sections (like this one) do the work for them, and I have the succinct idea that is not what most people here want.
Personally I am not encouraged by the large field of candidates, not that I think any one candidate should not run, but because we have to take more time to narrow the field and unify behind one. You have to consider the fact that republican voters are as decided now as they were in 2016 who they are going to vote for... again... that i guarantee you. That being said I am far less encouraged by, and frustrated by democrat, progressive, and independent voters (whom all share more values with each other than they do these fascists now ruining our nation) still carrying on with all this counterproductive name calling, finger pointing, and generally childish behavior, and feuding with each other.
If as adults we can not all come together and find a consensus on this matter then WE WILL LOSE YET ANOTHER PRESIDENTIAL ELECTION IN 2020 if this attitude of defeatism, and resentment is not summarily dealt with by first flushing it down the toilet.. where it belongs.
The great majority of Republican/Trump voters in 2016 had no doubt who their vote was for... and look what that got them. We must be as decided as they were last time or we will lose again.
The candidates themselves also have the responsibility to deal with each other fairly if they all want OUR SIDE TO WIN and think that most them already are diplomatic enough to understand they are stronger together, and have a much better chance at winning an election if they know when to concede to each other and adopt each others strengths and combine them .. e.g. Think about it. .. regardless If It's Warren, Harris, Beto, Biden, or Bernie, as the nominee I have always thought the ultimate honor would be to pick one of the other candidates as their VP choice. IDK ...Just Imagine something amazing like Beto/Warren, or Sanders/Beto, Warren/Harris, Biden/Beto, Harris/Beto, frankly I'd take any of those over the nightmare we're all currently being forced to live through now...wouldn't you ?
