Dear Mr. Romney,

My parents are in the 47% that you have scornfully dismissed. They do not pay taxes for one simple reason: they are elderly and their medical deductions exceed their pensions. They are rapidly going broke because their medical needs exceed their pensions.

My father had a severe stroke 15 years ago that has left him in a wheelchair with hemi-paralysis. The care this requires exceeds the pension of most Americans.

My father has done everything you expect an American citizen to do. He grew up poor during the Depression but he worked his way above that. He served his country in WWII. He met the parental expectation that he get a better job than his coal mining father had. He got married, raised three children, and paid for us to have the higher education we wanted to have.

How dare you say that he is not taking personal responsibility for his life?

I am disgusted and angry that you would see his life that way.
