only he can properly defend himself. His inclination is to testify. But his enablers and protectors will stop him.
I agree that in person testimony, where he faces direct questions and follow up is the way to go, rather than written answers. We should push hard for that. But if the House does accept written answers, it should be ONLY with the clear understanding that they are given under oath. Administer the oath in person before he receives the written questions. When he submits the answers, have him swear under oath that they are HIS answers and are the solemn truth.
Pity to miss out on an in perso testimony, though. It would be the most dramatic role he has ever acted in.
