FORT LAUDERDALE The strange case of the Chinese woman who lied to get into Mar-a-Lago while President Donald Trump and his family were visiting in March will end with her deportation.
The stage for Yujing Zhang to be sent back to China was set on Monday when U.S. District Court Judge Roy Altman sentenced the 33-year-old self-described investment counselor to eight months in prison. Since that is roughly the time Zhang has already spent behind bars, Altman said she could be turned over to immigration officials as early as this weekend.
How long it will take for her to be processed is unknown. But, since her visa has been revoked, she has no legal ability to stay in the country and will eventually be forced to return to her home in Shanghai, officials said.
During the roughly hour-long sentencing hearing, Zhang offered unclear and confusing explanations for why she lied to U.S. Secret Service agents to get into the presidents exclusive club in Palm Beach and suggested that Trump had publicly said she had an invitation to visit.
