I'm a former Marine and Pompeo has a generic personality that you run into in the Military. They are guys that never deployed, but are real hard asses.

have had the displeasure of working with a few folks with that personality. they are incredibly insecure, often shady, and will undertake extreme measures to maintain social status within the group.

they generally lack any real discernible skill, so often feel threatened by confident people, and will seek to diminish the credibility of folks challenging their authority. Hences, point to Ukraine on a map.

which, is an arbitrary task that was only aimed at "shutting up" the reporter. I loathe these kinda of people, not because they are douches, but because the place lives unnecessarily in jeopardy from sheer incompetence.
