(12,753 posts)I know that is tough, but that is life. The younger people in this country have more to lose than I do at my age. Imagine if you will a Supreme Court if there is 4 more years of Trump? Imagine the environment if there is 4 more years of Trump? I will be worm meat but they will be here still griping and not voting because they can't get exactly what they want. Sometimes we don't get the candidate that meets all of our wants and needs, but they are head and shoulders above the alternative. That is life in a republic.
I voted the first time I was old enough and have missed only a couple of votes since then, including local and state elections. As my Dad used to say a school board can screw with your life more than a President can. it isn't a perfect system and I know many young people are suffering, but nothing changes if you don't get out and vote. What that means is sometimes you vote for someone you don't "get excited about", but vote who you think will do the best job of the ones you have to choose from. Then if you don't like what you get, run yourself, or work hard to get someone who shares your values elected. Griping doesn't do a lick of good.
I think Bernie has ruined this generation by giving them the idea that all they have to do is "resist" and they will get a boatload of programs they want with no problem. No, you don't get anything that easy. You realize that in a country like ours, when it is working properly, it is two sides fighting for things and one side never gets everything they want. Vote young people, run, knock on doors, make calls, work for your candidate and if they don't win do something constructive to get what you want, or at least some of what you want.
