they've all been marinated their entire lives in The Big Lie by anti-Democratic, anti-government propaganda from both right and left. Most grew up believing those who used Hitler's "The Big Lie" technique to indoctrinate them against Democrats. On the left, of course, it's that there's no real difference between Democrats and Republicans. On the right that liberalism is fascism and we eat babies' faces. It's The Big Lie because every brief examination belies the lie.

Ridiculous, but Hitler proved the technique of telling lies so "colossal" and obviously untrue that no one would believe someone would try to tell them IF they weren't true. And of repeating them until they became deeply embedded "common knowledge."

Considering the societal pathology affecting so many of their parents and communities, that the Republicans have caused it to lose a lot of its potency is a very good thing. We certainly couldn't do it without their help. Good and earnest are boring, and easily disbelieved.
