In reply to the discussion: Trump Livid After California Allows Statewide Mail-In Voting: 'These Votes Must Not Count' [View all]yellowdogintexas
(23,617 posts)Are the ballot collections boxes emptied every day? How is that managed? In my mind, the Elections Office has folks to pick up the boxes and swap them out with empty ones. OR put the contents into a container for returning to the Elections Office.
Scenario: box is at the public library and is sealed with a numbered seal which has been recorded. Election worker picks up the box, replaces it with an empty box which has a numbered seal and takes the first one back to the elections office, where it is checked in and the seal numbers verified before the box is opened. Is that how it is being handled?
That is how we keep control of the paper ballots used at our voting centers here. Every thing that has to do with the votes arrives sealed, all of the seal numbers are recorded when we break them and the broken seals are saved for return to the elections office. When we close up for the night, we reseal every single thing and record those seal numbers on the same form. The forms come to us with the numbers for our equipment already printed so if a seal does not match the list we call the main office immediately to get replacements.
