A few years ago, I attended a local church with a friend who was sining in the choir. It was eye opening. To draw young people, much of the music is a sort of gospel rock. Lyrics to songs I learned as a child, and the pace, have been rewritten for today’s audience and music styles. I’m irreligious, so my view is certainly not representative of regular church goers, but I felt the service to be a religious version of reality TV.
