What I haven't seen mentioned is whether the delinquencies are just those who are actually behind on their mortgage or if the number includes the millions of homeowners who deferred some payments (effectively increasing the length of their mortgage).

If just the former, it's serious. If the latter's included, the news might be trivial or might be serious but the reporter isn't giving us the information needed to evaluate.
