Georgia's "overall case count" has been "falling throughout August" is confusing at best. The overall case count for a state doesn't fall unless cases of Covid-19 that were confirmed are for some reason subtracted from the total.

Reading the sentence i can infer that the writer meant that the rate of new cases was falling, but reading the sentence wouldn't necessarily give me that meaning.

What ever happened to copy editors? Is this another job (like spell checking) given over to AI?
