8. An Apartheid state is an inhumane institution which begs the question:

How is that a defense against oppression? When you claim that no other solution will do and insist on that dogma as the measure of loyalty in your allies you are exporting that oppression, or as we have come to call it: Racism.

I have heard all of the arguments and seen the changes in how they are dressed up for public viewing for over 60 years. I supported the movement to divest over South Africa. It worked to bring pressure and to expose the lies over what was acceptable.

There are a number of arguments which need to be settled in the complex question of Israel and how it maintains its place in the world. None of which is binary in the end. Israel exists and has a place but must have a humane future or no one living there will be safe.

As we found in South Africa, as we found in Northern Ireland, as we found in Georgia, North Carolina, and Michigan: Racist exclusion does not work as governance. It is so self destructive it cannot stand.

Now ask yourself if an excuse to ban political speech against apartheid is an appropriate thing for Americans to do?
