In reply to the discussion: Wisconsin officials: Trump observers obstructing recount [View all]Dickster
(103 posts)I was a trained election observer during the Franken-Coleman recount in 2008 in a rural Minnesota county. The republican observers claimed that every ballot that had a write in was a marked ballot. There were a bunch of open school board races throughout the county, so there were over 400 ballots with write ins. There were three election officials and one Democratic and one Republican observer that all had to agree for each ballot to be counted. The republicans refused to agree on any ballot with a write-iin, so we sent over 400 ballots to the state that we couldnt agree on. A judge threw it back to the county level and said count them. After over 8000 ballots we looked, there was only one that we couldnt determine the intent of the voter.
