(31,464 posts)YOU watch him. And so do "a lot of other people." But are you aware how insignificant MSNBC's ratings are? Fox is considered "huge" by cable standards, and still only gets a few million people on a good night. Network "news," otoh, as much as we scoff and think no one watches it, reaches TENS OF MILLIONS of people every night. This is why MSNBC runs prison shows on the weekend...there is just no reason, financially, to spend money on real programming. Not enough people are watching. Al Sharpton is on MSNBC. I think they might finally be beating CNN, and I know they've don well, comparatively, during the debates, but they are still a very minor player in the cable news biz. They're getting stronger, I don't deny. But just because us political geeks watch them, MOST of America doesn't. There are still cables systems that consider MSNBC so "fringe" that they aren't even carried. Sad, but true.
So, my point is -- 1,000,000 people marched on Washington to protest Bush and the impending Iraq war. NO ONE covered it. It wasn't in the Corporate News' interest to tell us what was really happening. This is precisely why we won't hear much about Mitt's Sonnada scandal, or whatever it's called. And it's why it is unlikely MOST of America will never hear about Thompson's remarks, even while MSNBC junkies are given the impression it is being played 24/7. Sorry...it isn't.
