We lost all of our OTA (over the air) stations during the FCC's channel shuffle last year.
Most local ota stations were offered ultra low frequency channels in major markets in trade for their higher frequency channels out in rural areas. So now their operating costs are substantially lower but their signal rarely if ever goes past the city limits of whatever major city they moved to. Cell phone & cable companies benefited. Public channels lowered their operating costs. But now there's pretty much nothing left of over the air channels for most areas outside dense urban cities in many areas of the country.
