A funny thing happened to me back in late May when this was all going on. I was on vacation visiting my father-in-law. He own's a lake house and I was doing some fishing. I usually try to stay out of political conversations with him because he's an ultra-right wing Fox News Republican. Inevitable during the trip I was forced to watch Fox News as I was making dinner one night. All the rioting was going on and people were protesting the killing of George Floyd and excessive police brutality. My father-in-law was out of his mind livid over the police not respond with more force against protestors. So I said, "You think they need to really crack down on the protestors?" He said, "Yeah, they need to really crack down. They need to use overwhelming force." I wasn't going to argue with him because I was visiting his house and I wanted to be a good guest. But what is really funny to me is he completely did not see the irony of "cracking down" on people protesting police brutality! Omg. We live in crazy times!
