32. I've been hearing and reading a lot about the variants for over a month

What Fauci is saying is nothing particularly new for him or other disease experts. It's just that a lot of the public health departments and media have been more focused on the vaccine distribution problems and progress.

I do agree with you though that people are getting complacent. Many states, including (D) ones, have been relaxing restrictions, including mine. Minnesota, for example, is down 90% from its November peak in daily new cases per capita, 7 day moving average.

The U.S. overall is down 64% in this metric since its January 8 peak.

So a lot of people are thinking the variants are, so far, a lot of "hat" but no cattle.
