In reply to the discussion: CNN Poll: Obama tied with Romney & Paul in November showdowns [View all]JoePhilly
(27,787 posts)20. Focus on the Averages of the polls ... like RealClear ...
http://www.realclearpolitics.com/epolls/2012/president/us/general_election_romney_vs_obama-1171.html
If Romney or Paul starts to beat Obama on a regular basis, THEN flip out.
But that is not happening.
To see this, look at the GRAPH at RealClear at the link above.
Then look at the historical polls, occasionally Romney beats Obama ... but its rare and the margin is usually tiny.
This same pattern occurred in 2008. McCain occasionally won a single poll, but usually by a small amount. And Obama was consistently winning by around 6%, particularly during the summer prior to the election.
Romney is struggling to get his head above water against Obama, and that's why you need to look at all the polls. The fact that Romney occasionally breaks the surface and gets to breathe for a second, is nothing to get excited about.

Yawn. First, the media needs to sell ads. Second, most people don't pay attention until August.
