Most of the cash donations (as opposed to food) come from corporations and wealthy, white, older people (ie, Republican voters). I suspect what's hurting the donations is the fact that the guy called Ryan out for washing clean pots, rather than the fact that Ryan was there at all. I also suspect that's why the guy flipped so quickly and retracted his statement. As soon as I read the story a few days ago, I thought the soup kitchen must have some bullet proof form of funding, like from the Catholic Church, which is why the guy felt free to speak out. As soon as he retracted his statement, I knew that wasn't the case.
