Obama edges past Romney in latest national UConn/Courant poll [View all]

STORRS – A national poll taken by the University of Connecticut/Hartford Courant shows President Barack Obama ahead of Republican Mitt Romney, but only by 3 percentage points with just six percent undecided.

It concluded on the night of the second debate between the two men, so many who responded had not seen it, according to the poll which was released Friday.

The nationwide tally of likely voters had Obama and Vice President Joe Biden with 48 percent and Romney and U.S. Rep. Paul Ryan with 45 percent.

Women favored Obama 55 percent to 38 percent for Romney, while Romney had the backing of men 53 percent to 41 percent.
