47. When our last child was nearly ready to leave for college,

My husband and I went on a trip together. I really wasn't sure what our relationship would be now that all the kids were grown. Everything had been all about the kids for our entire marriage. I wondered if he and I still had anything in common. What would we even talk about alone on a trip together?

It turned out that we had a lot to talk about. We rediscovered each other and have been happy in the 15 years since. We consider ourselves very lucky to be growing old together.

I think it goes the other way for a lot of couples.
