and pissing on the corpse of a dead enemy is not only an immoral and unconscionable act and a violation of the laws of war, it's a sign of disrespect and indicates that the enemy is seen as something less than human. It's troubling not merely for the act itself but for what it says about the attitude of some American soldiers and marines regarding the Afghans they're fighting; it could just be me, but if instead of Afghan Muslim insurgents the US were fighting against white Christians? You probably wouldn't hear of anything like this happening. There were recorded instances of American troops in the Pacific mutilating the bodies of dead Japanese; nothing like that, as far as I know, happened in Europe where the enemy was the Germans. So racism clearly plays some part in these actions.
