(54,770 posts)15. Have no doubt the generals said we needed more troops there, especially during withdrawal.
That proved true because we had to send in more troops.
I suspect they said we need to keep minimal troops there for years. Generals aren't likely to support pullouts.
We really won't know whether that would have been smart until elections and whether the GOPer swiftboating makes any difference.
