but it greatly reduces your chance of getting very ill and / or dying from Covid.

There is some evidence that both having Covid-19 and vaccination is better at reducing the risk of catching Covid-19 a second or third time. Of course, the correct order that greatly reduces your chance of serious illness is to be vaccinated first, then catch the virus... but the very best idea is to get vaccinated, take the booster shot... and hope that the variants will have a vaccine made for them shortly.
