WASHINGTON Former Trump adviser Steve Bannon was indicted by a federal grand jury Friday, charged with contempt of Congress for refusing to answer questions from the House Committee investigating the Jan. 6 Capitol riot.

He was charged Friday with two contempt counts one for refusing to appear for a deposition and another for declining to produce documents requested by the committee. If convicted, Bannon could face up to a year behind bars and a fine of up to $100,000.
A law enforcement official said Bannon is expected to surrender on Monday and appear in court that afternoon. Neither Bannon nor his attorney immediately responded to a request for comment. Attorney General Merrick Garland issued a brief statement explaining the decision to indict Bannon.
"Since my first day in office," he said, "I have promised Justice Department employees that together we would show the American people by word and deed that the department adheres to the rule of law, follows the facts and the law, and pursues equal justice under the law. Today's charges reflect the departments steadfast commitment to these principles.

OP
He agreed to turn himself in on Monday. Wonder if he'll pull a "Frank Pentangeli" over the weekend?

It would not surprise me if trump sends his "consigliere" to advise Bannon to "do the right thing"!

You're right. How thoughtless of me! It is now Garland's fault that Meadows is not indicted.

The timing of all of this is right on schedule - 17 days for an indictment that HAD to wait....
