(8,566 posts)17. I don't like how the media is framing this: the real story is the restrictions, not word choice.
Kudos to Macron for restricting the unvaccinated's ability to endanger everyone else. The story should be about that and how/why this will save lives.
As far as his language goes: Macron used a mildly vulgar word. Anti-vaxxers are literally killing people. The anti-vaxxers have a lot of nerve complaining about language.
The only thing I'd fault Macron for is giving the media a way to twist the story.

Part of the problem may be that the word originates from "merde", which literally means "shit".
