And you misinterpreted what I said about sending the message that criminals will get off easy. A stiff penalty will not deter criminals, I don't disagree with that. my focus is more on the societal implications than sentences as a deterrent. As a society we owe it to our most weak and helpless that we are pursuing justice to the fullest extent of the law. We owe it to them and their suffering, as a statement that is ensconced in judicial history. No tolerance.
