It's a life sentence - even IF he lives to see his first parole hearing, his utter remorselessness guarantees failure. And yes, my initial feelings were the same, until I thought a little...he no doubt still has the resources to try just about any legal tactic and while it would be a long shot, he could always try for an 8th Amendment appeal of a 450-year sentence. If nothing else, it would keep his monstrous ego nourished and given continuing attention.

Morally and symbolically, this is not the "ideal" sentence by any means, but effectively it's the same as anything longer - sometimes ya just gotta be practical. This sits fine with me.
