In reply to the discussion: Truck convoy protesting vaccine mandates pulls plug before reaching Kansas, Missouri [View all]Metaphorical
(2,614 posts)> They said the $6,500 that had been raised for the trip will be dispersed to these truckers when they arrive to Maryland and DC.
So, that amounts to about a tank of gas ($100), assuming 65 trucks total. A typical 26 ft truck gets about 5 miles to the gallon, so, for a twenty gallon tank (yes, I know they're bigger, but the calculation is simpler this way), that amounts to 100 miles. It's just shy of 2700 miles from LA to DC by road, not carrying any meaningful cargo (because no one is going to trust these yoyos to carry goods when they can get arrested at any point).
Now, if there's only 13 trucks, that still gets you only about a fifth of the way there before you're paying out of pocket, and you know, somehow a convoy of thirteen trucks just doesn't scream public support to me. Someone was evidently not doing the math on this.
