In reply to the discussion: Oregon Department of Justice investigating potential ballot tampering at Clackamas County Elections [View all]classof56
(5,376 posts)Again, republicons come through with their ugly and illegal actions, determined to undermine our democracy.
According to my Oregon Voters' Pamphlet FAQs:
Q: Can anyone find out how I've voted once I mail (or drop off) my ballot?
A: No. All ballots are separated from the return envelopes before the ballots are inspected. (I take that to mean they remain in the secrecy envelope until the counting begins on election night.) This process ensures confidentiality.
Q: Can the public watch the election process?
A: All steps of the process are open to observation by the public. Contact your county elections official to make arrangements.
It's clear this person broke the law, it was called to the Secretary of State's attention, who investigated and turned it over to the OR Department of Justice, which prosecutes criminals. I hope this woman does time not only in the Clackamas County jail but the State Pen in Salem.
I now fully understand that republicons have no shame about their actions. What a sorry state of affairs!
