12. Please don't tar us all with one brush

I am a middle-aged, white Southern male. I have lived in the South for most of my life -- Kentucky, Mississippi, Tennessee, and now Alabama. I spent a couple of years in New England, but it wasn't home, was cold, very cold, and I left.

Granted, the Republican Right has a stranglehold on the South. There are, however, many progressive people down here, believe it or not. And, thank you very much, we have a rich cultural heritage in the arts, literature and music.

Alabama is a wonderful state and a great place to live. Just curious, have you ever spent any time here?
