In reply to the discussion: Police under review for blasting Disney songs to keep videos off social media [View all]TheRickles
(3,043 posts)10. The cop was playing copyrighted music in the hopes that any video of his car search would be pulled
YouTube won't host videos that infringe on copyright. Other PDs have tried this tactic with other kinds of music (Taylor Swift), so that bystanders who film their actions won't be able to post on social media. It has nothing to do with Disney, but it's a pretty shady tactic.

OP
Seems particularly Kafkaesque to have police authoritarianism come with a family-friendly soundtrack

This incident has absolutely nothing to do with Disney - it's the Santa Ana cops.

Like I said there's literally an entire 30 Rock episode devoted to Tracy Jordan doing this.

So, if you're pulled over and the cops start playing music, figure you're in for a beating.

Yep. I was thinking that too. Apparently a lot of people are above the law in this country

That's literally the same thing Tracy Jordan did to get out of his wife's reality show.

If Disney wanted to do the right thing, they could go after Santa Ana police
