You can say the same thing about wind turbines that make blades out of fiberglass and petroleum resins. The same thing about solar cells using refined silicon won from digging up minerals, sometimes sand, and getting out Si from SiO2. Then there are the deliberately added metal "impurities" mined.
And then the end-of-life issues; what to do with old solar panels, old turbine blades? Anyone who thinks these wind/solar matters are 'carbon neutral' is foolish.
