In reply to the discussion: Pelosi's husband arrested for DUI [View all]BWdem4life
(1,664 posts)Average probably twice a month before being arrested for it. (Pulled over twice during that whole 20 years, no ticket either time.)
So, 20x25=500 times for me. Sometimes "carefully", sometimes wildly.
Maybe I'm an outlier... but based on the other people driving home from the same bars, I'd bet not.
When I requested a deferred prosecution, I was asked by the judge if I thought there was a chance I would commit the violation again without alcohol treatment (which I had already started), I said, "A very good chance, your honor." The judge and everyone else in the courtroom laughed knowingly.
So, yes, based on my experience, most people drive drunk over and over until they get a DUI. Also, even with the deferred prosecution, I lost my job, had to pay monthly for SR-22 insurance, blow-and-go, court fees, outpatient treatment, etc etc etc. $10,000? It was way more than that, but I never tried to count it all up.
