That was the funniest episode of Seinfeld, with Hall as a hard-boiled library cop. Jerry had no coffee to serve him so Hall goes on this riff about keeping a jar of Folger's Instant in the kitchen cabinet. "It's freeze-dried. Lasts forever."

He was one of those actors who was always worth watching regardless of whether the movie was any good.
